Since its takeover in 2006 by Bernard Piguet, a specialist in the art market for over 20 years, the auction house has become a fixture on the Swiss market as well as international markets. Piguet transformed the traditional auction house into a decidedly modern business using the latest management methods and introducing a high level of professionalism with services offered to buyers and sellers.
Today, Hôtel des Ventes sells nearly 15,000 works of art and objects valued at 300 to one million Swiss francs annually. With an impressive educational background in both art history (Sotheby's Institute London) and economics (HEC Lausanne), Bernard Piguet is the CEO and head auctioneer of Hôtel des Ventes in Geneva. After six years at Sotheby's as administrator of the fine jewellery department and head of sales administrator in Geneva, Piguet set up and managed his own consultancy before taking over Hôtel des Ventes in 2006.
